A Semi-Modular Analog Synthesizer With Classic Moog Soul

The Moog Grandmother is a semi-modular analog synthesizer built around the circuits and character of the classic Moog modular systems that came before it. Its sound engine, modulation engine, and onboard spring reverb tank are completely analog, delivering the rich, unmistakable Moog tone in an instrument that’s inviting for beginners yet deep enough for seasoned sound designers. All-Analog Sound Engine

Two Voltage-Controlled Oscillators

At the heart of the Grandmother sit two analog oscillators, each with its own octave and waveform selector (triangle, sawtooth, square, and pulse). Oscillator 2 can be detuned or hard-synced to Oscillator 1 for gritty, aggressive textures, and a white noise generator plus a 1/4″ external input round out the sound sources.

The Classic Moog Ladder Filter

Shape your tone with Moog’s legendary -24dB/octave Low Pass Ladder Filter, complete with self-oscillating resonance across a 10 Hz–20 kHz range. A patchable -6dB/octave High Pass Filter opens the door to custom bandpass sounds and even more harmonic sculpting.

Envelope, LFO, and Modulation

An all-analog ADSR envelope handles everything from tight, punchy plucks to swelling pads. A wide-range analog LFO with a sync input and sample/hold output stretches well into audio rate, giving you dynamic, evolving modulation that’s ready to patch anywhere you like.

Built-In Spring Reverb

The Grandmother features a real 6-inch analog spring reverb tank — not a digital emulation — for a deep, dark, one-of-a-kind ambience. It has its own Eurorack-compatible input and output, so you can even use the reverb as a standalone effect for other instruments and sound sources.

32-Note Keyboard and Arpeggiator

A velocity-sensing 32-note Fatar keyboard puts expressive playing at your fingertips, alongside pitch bend and mod wheels plus variable glide. The onboard arpeggiator makes it easy to bring patterns to life instantly.

Onboard Step Sequencer

Record and store up to three sequences of up to 256 notes each, right inside the instrument — perfect for building loops, phrases, and full performances without any external gear.

Semi-Modular Patchbay

With 41 patch points (21 inputs, 16 outputs, plus a parallel-wired 4-jack mult), the Grandmother is fully patchable but never requires patching to make sound. It’s Eurorack-compatible and plays beautifully alongside the Mother-32, DFAM, Subharmonicon, and other modular systems, so it can grow with your rig for years.
