Pocket-Sized MPC Beatmaking
The Akai MPC Sample is a standalone portable sampler and sequencer that puts the classic MPC workflow into something you can hold in one hand. No computer, no DAW, no interface. Sample a sound, chop it, sequence it, and finish the beat wherever you’re sitting.
Styled after the original MPC60, it pairs 16 RGB backlit MPC pads with velocity, pressure, and poly aftertouch with a 2.4-inch color display for waveform editing. A built-in mic and 3-watt speaker let you grab a sound and hear the loop back without plugging in anything, and the battery runs about five hours per charge.
Sample, Chop, Sequence
Sound gets in fast: the internal mic, the 1/4-inch inputs, USB-C from a phone or computer, or internal resampling with effects. Threshold and fixed-length sampling keep loops tight, and Sample Recall means a happy accident is never lost. Instant Sample Chop Mode, lazy-chopping, auto-snapping, real-time looping, warping, and timestretch or repitch cover everything from drum breaks to vinyl grabs.
The onboard MPC sequencer runs at 960 PPQ with real-time swing, 16 sequences across 8 banks per project, Note Repeat, step editing, automation, and Song Mode for arranging and exporting a finished track. Three knobs, an assignable legacy fader, and 60 effect types across Pad FX, Knob FX, Flex Beat, and the Color Compressor keep hands on the mix.
How It Fits Your Setup
This is the sampler you actually take with you: sketching beats on the couch, sampling records at a friend’s place, or running a DAWless jam with the CV/Gate sync out and MIDI driving a drum machine or synth. Back at the desk, USB-C carries audio, MIDI, and file transfer to a Mac or PC.

FAQ
Does it work without a computer?
Yes. Sampling, sequencing, effects, and export all happen on the unit. USB-C is optional for audio, MIDI, and moving files.
How is it powered?
The internal battery gives about five hours of playback. It also runs bus powered over USB-C from a computer, power bank, or a 5V 2A wall adapter, sold separately.
Do I need anything for MIDI?
The MIDI ports are 1/8-inch TRS Type A, so 5-pin gear needs a 1/8-inch to MIDI DIN adapter, not included.
