The Oneder Effects Action & Action is the signature dual drive pedal built with The Get Up Kids to celebrate 25 years of Something To Write Home About. The band had been running Oneder’s Old Blue Overdrive and Red Ryder Distortion on guitar and bass for years, so Oneder put both circuits into a single enclosure and tuned the clipping to match Rob and Jim’s onstage tone.
The right side is the Old Blue, a low to mid gain overdrive the band uses as its always-on base tone. The left side is the Red Ryder, a ratty, hard-clipping distortion with a clean Blend control for when the songs kick into leads and heavier sections. Both sides use asymmetrical silicon diode clipping, so the dirt stays punchy, open, and full of character.
Run the Old Blue side into a clean amp as your foundation and stomp on the Red Ryder for choruses and solos. Because Old Blue always sits first in the chain, it doubles as a pre-gain boost: crank its volume and slam the Red Ryder for thicker, fuzzier textures. Bass players get a secret weapon in the Blend control, which brings your clean low end back under the distortion so the bottom never disappears. It is a natural fit for emo, punk, and indie rock players who want two great drives without giving up board space.
Yes. Both channels are fully independent, so you can run either drive alone or stack them.
Absolutely. The band uses it on bass, and the Red Ryder Blend control keeps your clean low end intact.
No. It needs a 9V DC center negative supply, and isolated power is recommended for the quietest operation.
It is two proven Oneder circuits, tuned by the band that helped define the genre, in one box that covers everything from always-on grit to full-throttle leads. Ready to write home about your tone?
