Controls

• POWER (footswitch): Buffered bypass. Engages the pedal and turns the internal speaker on or off.
• DI OUT: Level of the direct amplifier signal sent to OUTPUT.
• MIC OUT: Level of the internal microphone signal sent to OUTPUT.
• MIC GATE: Flip up to enable a noise gate on the internal mic (triggered by the instrument INPUT).
• GAIN: Sets the internal amp’s gain. Push it to OVERLOAD for gnarly distortion and wild oscillation.
• TONE: Amp EQ, from deep bass-heavy to bright and focused.
• SFX SELECTOR: Choose REVERB (small room to massive cave), ECHO (classic tape style), or CHORUS (metallic flanging to lush chorus).
• DEPTH: Fully down bypasses the SFX. Otherwise sets REVERB blend, ECHO blend/feedback, or CHORUS depth.
• TIME: REVERB decay, ECHO delay time, or CHORUS speed.

Is this a modeler or a real amp?

It’s a real amp. AMP CRASH has an actual 3-watt power amp driving a 2″ internal speaker, captured by a built-in mic. No modeling, no IRs — the sound isn’t being simulated, it’s happening.

Can I connect a real speaker cabinet?

Yes. The EXT. SPEAKER 8Ω MIN output lets you drive a cabinet (8Ω minimum, 3W or greater) with a speaker cable. Plugging in an external speaker automatically disables the internal one.

Can it run on a battery?

No. AMP CRASH requires a 9V DC, 2.1mm center-negative power supply and draws 300 mA. Because of the current draw, a dedicated isolated outlet is recommended — Death By Audio’s RAW POWER supply is a great match.

What is it best used for?

Recording, quiet practice, songwriting, and experimentation — any time you want a mic’d amp sound without dragging out a real rig. It also makes a killer always-on texture pedal on a board.
