The Summer School Electronics Gladys V2 is a low to mid gain transparent overdrive pedal and the updated version of the original Gladys. This version adds more headroom, more gain on tap, a 2-band active EQ, and silent switching, all hand-built in Syracuse, New York. It is made for rock, blues, country, and everything in between.
Gladys starts from a classic breaker-style circuit, the kind of open, amp-friendly drive that adds grit without burying the character of your guitar. From there it rolls from boost to slight breakup to full crunch as you turn up Drive.
The Comp toggle gives Gladys two personalities. In the up position you get the classic breaker-style voice, with lower headroom and a lighter touch of drive. Flip it down for more volume, added compression, and a crisper, more focused, modern drive sound. The active Low and High controls replace the single tone knob of the original, so you can tame bright single coils, open up darker humbuckers, or match Gladys to the amp in front of you.
Set Gladys with low Drive and plenty of Vol to push a tube amp into natural breakup, or leave it on as a light, always-on drive for blues and country rhythm parts. Flip the toggle down when a rock part or solo needs more volume and focus. Silent switching keeps on and off changes quiet, even on a busy board.
The V2 adds more headroom, more available gain, a 2-band active EQ in place of the single tone knob, silent switching, and updated artwork.
Up gives you the classic breaker-style voice with a lighter drive. Down adds volume and compression for a crisper, more modern sound.
Rock, blues, and country are its sweet spot, and the range from boost to crunch covers plenty in between.
A standard 9V DC, center negative pedal power supply.
Plenty of headroom, plenty of bite, and a good girl on any board.
