Built by the skilled tone technicians at EarthQuaker Devices in Akron, Towers blends cascading micro-echoes, cathedral-style reverb, and a resonant low-pass filter into an immersive stereo experience that goes far beyond traditional delay or reverb.
Your input signal feeds an array of infinitely repeating micro-echoes, generating dynamic impulses that pour into a massive ambient reverb. Interwoven throughout is a resonant low-pass filter intersecting both delay and reverb paths—creating unearthly textures, depth, and movement across the stereo field.
Resonant Low-Pass Filter with Three Modes
At the heart of Towers is a resonant low-pass filter inspired by classic vintage synthesizer designs. It produces warm, ringy tones and dark atmospheric layers within the reverberated signal.
The Mode toggle offers three distinct filter behaviors:

Manual Mode: Directly control the filter frequency. Movements sweep across the stereo field, with the left and right channels moving in opposite directions.

Envelope Mode: Your picking dynamics drive the filter movement. The Frequency control adjusts sensitivity for expressive, touch-responsive resonance.

LFO Mode: A slow-moving LFO sweeps the filter across the stereo spectrum. The Frequency control sets the sweep rate, creating a gentle panning filter effect.
Stretch: Expanding Time & Texture
The dedicated Stretch footswitch slows the entire digital processing engine. This doubles the reverb length while introducing lo-fi artifacts, pitch bending, and smeared filter textures.
