The Towers Soundscape Generator is a stereo reverberant filter designed to transform your signal into vast, evolving soundscapes. Built by the skilled tone technicians at EarthQuaker Devices in Akron, Towers blends cascading micro-echoes, cathedral-style reverb, and a resonant low-pass filter into an immersive stereo experience that goes far beyond traditional delay or reverb.
Your input signal feeds an array of infinitely repeating micro-echoes, generating dynamic impulses that pour into a massive ambient reverb. Interwoven throughout is a resonant low-pass filter intersecting both delay and reverb paths—creating unearthly textures, depth, and movement across the stereo field.
At the heart of Towers is a resonant low-pass filter inspired by classic vintage synthesizer designs. It produces warm, ringy tones and dark atmospheric layers within the reverberated signal.
The Mode toggle offers three distinct filter behaviors:
Manual Mode: Directly control the filter frequency. Movements sweep across the stereo field, with the left and right channels moving in opposite directions.
Envelope Mode: Your picking dynamics drive the filter movement. The Frequency control adjusts sensitivity for expressive, touch-responsive resonance.
LFO Mode: A slow-moving LFO sweeps the filter across the stereo spectrum. The Frequency control sets the sweep rate, creating a gentle panning filter effect.
The dedicated Stretch footswitch slows the entire digital processing engine. This doubles the reverb length while introducing lo-fi artifacts, pitch bending, and smeared filter textures.
Tap for an instant stretched atmosphere
Hold to plunge the entire system into evolving, unpredictable ambience
Stretch alters frequency response and delay structure, creating unique atmospheres filled with musical imperfections and unexpected textures.
Mix: Balances dry and effected signal
Length: Adjusts reverb time (also sets Stretch speed)
Filter: Controls how much of the resonant low-pass filter is blended into the reverb paths
Frequency: Determines filter frequency (function varies by mode)
Mode Toggle: Manual, Envelope, or LFO
Preset Selector: Access up to 8 user-assignable presets
Activate Footswitch: Turns the effect on/off
Stretch Footswitch: Engages time-stretch processing
Stereo operation
Mechanical true bypass switching
Input Impedance: 500 kΩ
Output Impedance: 100 Ω
Current Draw: 85 mA (9V DC only – do not run at higher voltages)
Lifetime Warranty
Designed and built in Akron, Ohio
Stereo micro-echo architecture feeding cathedral-style reverb
Resonant low-pass filter with Manual, Envelope, and LFO modes
Unique Stretch feature for time-warped ambience
Eight user presets
True bypass and road-ready construction
The Towers Soundscape Generator is more than a reverb—it’s a stereo ambient instrument designed to push beyond conventional effects and into expansive, evolving sound design.
